Fall Trends 2017

At the bottom of the post, you’ll find a discount code for 15% off Rent Frock Repeat rentals. Read on!

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably noticed that I discovered the fashion rental service Rent Frock Repeat back in the spring. It’s one of Canada’s only fashion rental service (we don’t have Rent the Runway here), and I just love it! I’ve used the service for renting designer dresses for events and galas, and couldn’t be more happy with my experience.

However, even though the service rents mostly glam cocktail dresses and gowns for parties and weddings, they do rent other pieces as well. So I decided to do a little digging through the site to see whether I could put together some trending fall outfits. For me, this means that instead of purchasing all new pieces this autumn, I can rent and feel as though I have a whole new wardrobe! Shopping my closet has never been more sustainable or fun.

Check out my on-trend outfits below via pics and video, and scroll to the bottom of the post for some advice for renting through Rent Frock Repeat and an exclusive {{DISCOUNT CODE}} just for you!

Luxe Layers

Luxe Layer

Cropped tops like this linen bustier from Yumi Kim may have been a staple of your summer wardrobe, but that doesn’t mean you have to abandon them once the cooler weather hits. Rent this little number or any of the other amazing crop tops in RfR’s catalogue and layer it over a thrifted men’s shirt for a sweet call back to beach days.

Shine Bright

I personally love tea length skirts like this one from Kay Unger. And although they are great for more formal parties and occasions, that doesn’t mean you can’t rock them everyday. A chambray top makes this stunner street worthy, and pops of colour play well off the deep blue.

Summer Redux

Summer Redux

Rent Frock Repeat has an amazing array of summer dresses like this adorable number from Troubadour, but the new seasonless dressing trend means that they don’t have to be confined to summer any longer! Throwing on high rise booties, tights, a scarf and faux leather jacket (as seen in the video below) ups the cool and casual quotient.

Fall Florals

Fall Florals from Rent Frock Repeat

Floral prints have officially made the leap from being just a spring thing to incorporation in autumn wardrobes. A dress that can double as a jacket works twice as hard while you rent it, and that why I love this number from Nissa. Be sure to pair the bright pattern with neutrals to take a look from fashion PR to street style star. Bonus points here for the on-trend colour poppy red!

Vintage Florals

Vintage Florals

If you want to rock fall’s vintage florals trend without splashing out on a whole new wardrobe to do so, I’d recommend renting this dress from erin fetherston. Its neoprene fabric is season appropriate, and can go from office to after work drinks. A serious contender when you’re looking to dress to impress.

BONUS: Shades of Wine

Shades of Wine

If you do have some formal occasions to attend this autumn, choosing a dress in a trending colour is the way to go! This asymmetrical gown from Copious is in a gorgeous shade of whine, and is made from a rich wool to keep you warm on chilly night. Pairing with tartan pumps adds a cute and quirky touch!

The Rental Experience

Renting pieces is an amazing way to keep up with the latest trends while being sustainable and ethical. If you live in Ottawa or Toronto, you should definitely take advantage of the two Rent Frock Repeat studios to set up a profile, get your measurements, and try on some pieces. The stylists there are amazing and often put you in pieces you’d never try on your own!

If you, like me, live elsewhere in Canada, you can have dresses shipped to you for 4 or 8 day rentals. However, before you do I’d advise you go to a professional tailor to get your exact measurements, and then fill out as much of your online profile as you can. You can do a free phone or Skype consultation with a Rent Frock Repeat stylist if you’re having trouble finding that perfect piece!
