Aynara Argan and Prickly Pear Oil

I recently had the opportunity to try out a couple products from the green beauty brand Aynara. I obtained these samples through the OBL Club, run by bloggers Andrea of Organic Beauty Lover and of Rachael of the Green Edit. The OBL Club aims to get products from small and upcoming brands into the hands of testers, and you can join and become a tester even if you are not a blogger! If you want to try out emerging products and have a lot of opinions, you should join. And if you’re new to green beauty, check out the growing database of reviews.

Most campaigns take place in Europe or the USA, but in some cases (such as this one) they’ll ship to other places such as Canada.

Argan Oil

Aynara is a brand that believes in simple beauty. They sell only a handful of products, and most of them consist of 100% pure oils. Their argan oil is not only certified organic, but virgin and cold pressed. If you’re already a fan of argan oil, this is a high quality source.

As a pure source of argan oil, this products contains:

  • Vitamin E
  • Omega fatty acid 3, 6 and 9

Pros

The size of the bottle is very generous, at 50 ml and a little goes a long way. And I love that it comes in glass packaging! As with any oil, I’d recommend starting with a couple  drops and adjusting from there until you get your desired amount of moisture. Some product advise using 7-10 drops, but if the oil is wrong for your skin type you can end up with a greasy mess (it’s happened to me before, trust).

One of the biggest pros of a pure plant oil like Aynara’s organic argan oil is that they are so versatile! Argan oil is especially great since it won’t clog pores. You can use it as a daily serum under moisturizer or as a daily moisturizer on its own. You can also use it as a makeup primer, to heal dry cuticles, as an oil cleanser, or as an overnight hair or hand mask.

This particular oil can also help prevent future breakouts by balancing sebum production in the skin, and has been used to soothe skin ailments such as eczema, psoriasis and rosacea. It really shows how organic beauty shines: using pure plant oils are really cure-alls thanks to their potent combination of vitamins that skin needs!

On top of all these pros, I have to say that I love the smell of Aynara’s argan oil. It’s pleasantly sweet without being too heady or saccharine.

Cons

If you’re at all familiar with this blog, you’ll probably know what’s coming next. The only con that I can see with this product is that I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for sensitive skin. I tried the argan oil as a serum for a couple weeks, and the result was a slight, red rash. I honestly can’t tell you what I reacted to! And so I instead tried it as an overnight cuticle treatment and a frizz taming hair oil, and I found that both uses produced amazing results!

That’s why I say that I love how versatile pure plant oils are. If one use doesn’t work for your skin type, there are so many other beneficial ways to use it.

Aynara Prickly Pear and Argan Oil

Prickly Pear Seed Oil

If you’re less familiar with prickly pear seed oil, you can think of it as an amped up version of argan oil. Produced by women’s cooperatives in Morocco, this oil is a powerful anti-aging product that contains:

  • 150% more Vitamin E than argan oil
  • 88% Omega fatty acids (an extremely high amount)
  • Vitamin K

Pros

Thanks to this potent mix of beneficial compounds, prickly pear seed oil helps reduce many of the signs of aging. Vitamin K helps reduce dark undereye circles, while vitamin E and the omegas help improve skin’s elasticity. It can also help maintain the healthy of your skin’s collagen layer, tightening pores and brightening dark spots.

This particular oil absorbs quickly into the skin and so if you have an oily skin type, you’ll be less likely to experience an oily feel. Just start with a couple drops for your face and adjust from there.

Again, this pure plant oil can be used for so many different treatments on face, body, hair or hands. Aynara mention trying the two together: use the argan oil as a day treatment and the prickly pear an as overnight treatment. I recommend Aynara’s products for anyone looking for organic skin care that’s potent but fuss-free. If you want to purchase one or two products that do it all so that you don’t have to think too much about your skincare, these are the ones!

Cons

To be honest, I find that the prickly pear seed oil has a scent that’s somewhat less appealing than that of the argan oil. However, it’s an earthly aroma that’s by no means strong or obnoxious.

And I also reacted to the prickly pear seed oil. So frustrating! That’s another pure ingredient that I know I can’t use. However, as with the pure argan oil it was easy for me to find uses for this amazing oil that didn’t involve my face. Nail health, hair condition and dark spots on my hands all improved when using this incredible oil.
