I have to admit, I’ve been a bad blogger. I received the Lily Farm Fresh Organic Sensitive Skin Trial Pack for review well over a year ago, and I am just now getting around to writing my review. First, Sense of Aesthetic was put on hold as I tried to balance it with my duties in a full-time, not-working-from-home job. Then, the process of showing our house and moving began.
And now that I finally feel settled into my new home in Manitoba, I finally have the time to write this up. What can I say, it’s been a crazy year!
Organic Farm, Organic Skin Care
The pack consists of trial and travel sizes of five of Lily Farm Fresh calming products, all for use on sensitive skin. All of Lily Farm Fresh products come from an organic farm, and so are perfect if you’re looking for skin care that’s:
- Made by the USDA-certified organic farmer they’re grown by
- Made from hand harvested ingredients
- Handmade from fresh plant ingredients
- Contains zero synthetics
- Is low waste: the farm produces only a half bag of trash per week in its manufacturing processes
- Is Non-GMO, Gluten-free and Cruelty-free
Lily, who lends her name to this skin care line, started it when she noticed that plant-based masks and treatments that she made herself cleared up the acne that conventional beauty treatments could not.
I really loved this creamy cleanser, and using it while I travelled meant that it was one of the first products I used up. Made with an almond oil based soap, it didn’t lather but still effectively washed away grime and makeup. I personally prefer super gentle, non-foaming facial cleansers and so this was right up my alley. If you do have a tendency towards sensitive skin with some hormonal acne (as I do), this could be a great cleanser to try as it does contain witch hazel.
I used this product up first, and found it super handy for travel. Although all of the items in the Calming skin care line from Lily Farm Fresh are unscented, they do smell like the plant essences that they contain. And so the scent of the toner, for me, reminded me of apple cider vinegar. Again, it does have some acne fighting ingredients such as grain alcohol, but soothing components such as aloe vera and chamomile mean that I never found it overly drying.
This was probably my favourite product in the pack. Honey is the first ingredient, and it’s such a powerful skin care ingredient for all skin types. Beyond that, I could actually feel the pineapple and papaya enzymes working as they healed some of my acne. The twice weekly self care ritual left my skin feeling super smooth and soft. It’s a really unique mask with ingredients unlike any of those I’ve tried on my skin!
I’m going to be honest with you – this facial oil is thicker and richer than the ones I tend to gravitate towards. It contains only three ingredients: organic kukui nut oil, vitamin C and vitamin E. This nut oil’s strength lies in smoothing and softening aging skin, but I found that it was an amazing treatment when my skin was very dry. In the dead of winter, when wind burn and forced air heat takes a huge toll on my skin, this oil was the perfect soothing and healing treatment.
Containing some of my favourite skin care ingredients, almond oil and shea butter, I found this light cream moisturizer to be perfect for sensitive skin. It can create a heavy base when used as a second moisturizing step with the Kukui Facial Oil, and so I only really did that during drier months. Using the cream as a single moisturizing step in the summer, however, was perfect for me!
As you may have noticed, Lily’s battles with acne have influenced the skin care line, and so these products are perfect for anyone battling with teenage or adult acne no matter why your skin type.
