Hey, kids! Today I’ve got some of the products that I’ve finished recently, along with what I liked and didn’t like. Here are the empties I mentioned:
I almost always have a Konjac Sponge in my empties basket. I use about one every three months — and I just love them for gentle exfoliation. Plus, they are are compostable! Love that! I like this one from 100% Pure for when I get hormonal acne, and this cute set for day to day sensitive skin needs (plus, heart shaped, how adorable is that?!)
However, another product from Andalou Naturals was not as impressive. The Instant Hydration 1000 Roses Sheet Mask did sting my skin and the shape was really weird. I like a lot of skincare from this brand, but these sheet masks are no good for me. I really want to try the 100% Pure reusable green tea sheet mask — I haven’t really heard of any other truly green and clean beauty versions.
I had better news with the Hugo Naturals Himalayan Pink Salt Scrub in Grapefruit. I’m always on the hunt for coconut oil-free body scrubs after using a number of them that just left me waaaaay too greasy. I also really liked the Nature Clean Citrus Hand Soap and the Aleva Hand & Face Wipes, although I’ve bought both those products before and I probably will again!
I wasn’t so hot on the Penny Lane Hair Detangler. I just couldn’t get over the scent of ACV of it — and I prefer Graydon’s Hair Smoothie: it works and it smells amazing! My Divine Essence Rose Extra Pure Petals Organic Floral Water didn’t smell too bad but took some getting used to, and I want to try the Heritage Store version next for a comparison. And of course the Alaffia Unscented Shea Butter, which I plan on purchasing again, just smelled like shea butter.
I did finish off a couple of toxic products. Yes, I have to admit, I still have a handful of products like this lying around! But I’m so frugal that I feel the need to finish them before purchasing green beauty counterparts. The two really toxic products I finished this winter were Cetaphil and L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil Hair Mask. For Cetaphil, you can really substitute any gentle green beauty moisturizer. Lately I’ve been digging Andalou’s Goji Peptide Perfecting Cream which smells like apricots, and instead of the L’Oreal hair mask I like My Mane Care’s hair mask. It is so good and smells delicious!
I also finish off some products that are discontinued. I’m not too upset about the Acure Plumping Lip Polish since it wasn’t really that effective, but I am really sad I can no longer find the Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick. It was effective and actually free of toxins! If you do swear by this product, there are a few (marked up) left on Amazon. Or you could try the Prima Vera product I mentioned or a similar one from Thursday Plantation.
My other misses included Burt’s Bees More Moisture Baobab Conditioner and Druide Vivifying Body Soap because they contain coconut ingredients, and Meow Meow Tweet Vegan Lip Balm and Nova Scotia Fisherman Lip Balm just did not work for my perpetually chapped lips.
The Pacifica Hawaiian Ruby Guava Roll-On Perfume I may buy again, once I’m not so sick of it. And I already have the Antioxidant version of the Dr. Brite Peroxide Free Green Apple Whitening Pen to try. But as for the TapaReef Sunscreen Remover Wipes and the Farmacy Rise ‘N Shine Daily Moisture Lock, I won’t be buying either again.
All of my green lifestyle empties were drinkable. I am a big fan of Honest Leaf, and I’ll definitely be buying their Slim Tea again. But as for my water bottle additives: the Sencha Natural Green Tea + C drink mix, the Ma-cha Matcha in Ginger and Vanilla Almond, the Matcha Ninja and the Drink UVO Sun Protection, they are all way too powdery for me and make me cough! But I definitely loved the Sprout Living Epic Protein for a plant-based protein boost in my after workout smoothies!
Have you tried any of these products? Hit me up in the comments and let me know what you loved and what you didn’t!
